Attorney Bruce R. Young, has been actively practicing law in the State of Florida since 1979. Mr. Young is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Courts, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Military Appeals, the Florida Supreme Court and the Florida Appellate Courts.
Mr. Young is a graduate of both St. Petersburg at the time (Jr. College) and the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Political Science. While seeking his undergraduate degree, Mr. Young studied for six (6) months in London, England through Florida State University. Mr. Young obtained his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1979. While at Stetson University, Mr. Young participated in numerous trial competitions, was a member of Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity and was employed by various litigation attorneys throughout the area to do research and various other duties relating to trial and litigation projects.
Prior to attending Stetson University, Mr.Young spent four years in the United States Army in a branch of the Army Intelligence Services where he spent two tours overseas, one in Northern Turkey and the second one in Vietnam. Mr. Young was honorably discharged from the United States Army in November of 1968 and entered college in January of 1969. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree in 1972, (3 1/2 years later), prior to attending law school, Mr. Young graduated from the Pinellas Police Academy and served a brief stint with the St. Petersburg Police Department.
After graduation from law school, Mr. Young was immediately employed as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. Within two years Mr. Young was promoted to the Felony Division and within another year was supervising a Felony Division consisting of four other felony lawyers. During that time, Mr. Young exclusively tried major crimes, murders, rapes, and trafficking. Mr. Young has tried as a lead trial counsel in excess of half a dozen capital cases and participated in over 240 jury trials over the last 23 years. In 1985, Mr. Young resigned from the State Attorney’s Office, entered private practice where he concentrated on civil litigation and criminal litigation, and practiced exclusively in the Tampa Bay area. Mr. Young has various memberships to add to his credit namely, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers, Florida Bar Association, Clearwater Bar Association, Pasco County Bar Association, American Association of Trial Lawyers, Florida Association of Trial Lawyers, Florida Family Lawyers Association and is a member of the Canakaris Family Law Inn of Court . Throughout his private practice, Mr. Young has been involved in numerous high profile litigation cases. Mr. Young has obtained multiple million plus dollar verdicts in both Hillsborough and Hernando Counties, and continues to be active in litigation cases exclusively.
